Winter Squash

You are probably familiar with butternut, pumpkin, and acorn. However, there are so many other great varieties available – Delicata, Hubbard, Spaghetti, Sweet Dumpling, and Turban. Squash is easy to prepare and has a great nutritional profile. This mini-course will cover types, selection, storage, preparation, and of course, delicious recipes! Cooking Corner Club Monthly Cook-Along Sessions

Note:  This course may be accessed by active cooking corner club members.   

Each month (usually the 1st Saturday, but may change due to holidays and scheduling conflicts), a virtual Cook-Along session is held for active Cooking Corner Club Members.  With the help and guidance of Mrs. Dornberg, we will all cook approximately 3 recipes together in real-time.  The recipes and an ingredient list will be posted in this course a minimum of 1 week prior to the class so you can get your supplies and be ready to get cooking!  Although you will be able to watch a replay of the course, YOU ARE HIGHLY ENCOURAGED TO JOIN AND PARTICIPATE LIVE!  You only LEARN by DOING, and the opportunity to get real-time feedback from Mrs. Dornberg is invaluable!

Following the class, a recording of the session along with any follow-up information will be added to that session section of the course.  If you have questions watching the replay, ask in the comment section or in the Cooking Corner Club Facebook group.

Our Cooking Fundamentals Course does just this.

Seafood 101

This course will cover the different varieties and harvesting methods (wild vs. farm-raised) as well as guidelines to help you make sustainable choices while demonstrating different preparation methods for roasting, sautéing, baking, and “oven frying”.

The Instant Pot 101

Note:  this course may be accessed by indiviudals registered for the 9/29/20 Instant Pot Virtual Class.

The Instant Pot has become an integral part of meal preparation for many home cooks, but there are also many who feel intimidated about just how to use it (and maybe haven't even taken it out of the box!).  Others are on the fence if they should purchase one or not.   This class will help you gain the knowledge and confidence you need!  

We will cover the basics of Instant Pot cooking including best practices, basic techniques, tips, and the best (and not so good) things to prepare in it,  We will also dive into when and if it really does save time and how this method of cooking differs from more traditional methods.  Finally, Mrs. Dornberg will demonstrate some healthy foods to prepare in the instant pot while discussing how it can aid in meal prepping, and sharing some best practices for getting your food to turn out right every time!

Crazy For Cauliflower

The final installment of our cruciferous vegetable series is all about Cauliflower!  Like its cousins, cauliflower is loaded with health benefits.  In addition, it has become a hot ingredient in recent years mainly as an alternative to starchy-high carb potatoes.  It can be roasted (whole or in florets), riced, steamed, pureed or even cut into “steaks” and grilled!  The possibilities are endless!
