Simple, Delicious, Nutritious Everyday Meals

Note:  This course may be accessed by active cooking corner club members.

One of the best resources you have for getting a healthy dinner on the table daily is a collection of go-to recipes.  Of course, these should be meals that you love and look forward to having on a regular rotation, but should also use staple ingredients and embrace basic techniques and healthy eating principles.  Having a collection of 20 or so such recipes is a game-changer when it comes to meal planning and preparation!

Although we know this is a great idea, we usually fail in the execution.  So, this year we are going to build our very OWN GO-TO recipe book together! Each week during 2021, I will be sharing a different Simple, Delicious, Nutritious Everyday Meal.  Give it a try, and if it fits your needs, add it to your Recipe Binder! It is that easy!!

In addition, since you are a cooking corner club member, you have access to a step-by-step how-to video for the recipe along with additional notes and specific videos highlighting special techniques or helpful tips for making the dish.  PLUS, submit any questions in the comment section or in the group Facebook group and Mrs. Dornberg will help you out!

At the end of the year, you will have your very own go-to recipe book!  How exciting is that!  Let's get started!!

Note: The recipes will be a combination of vegan, vegetarian, and meat-based, and will focus on items suitable for a meal (side suggestions may be given, but actual recipes will not).   All recipes will be gluten-free or have a gluten-free option, and other substitution options will be included whenever possible, but not all recipes may be suitable for your specific dietary protocol.

Cooking Fundamentals

Note:  This course may be accessed by active cooking corner club members.

For whatever reason, many people think that cooking is an innate skill -- choose a recipe, buy ingredients, and BAM! a delicious, nutritious meal!

Unfortunately, it doesn't happen that way, BUT it is less difficult than you think! You just need to learn what is "behind the recipe" -- the skills, techniques, vocabulary, and the process.

Our Cooking Fundamentals Course does just this.
You will learn basic cooking techniques, become familiar with ingredients and kitchen tools, and explore different flavors through the monthly cooking fundamentals demonstration class (replays available), technique videos, tips/tricks to make things easier, and recipes for you to try on your own.  PLUS, you get Mrs. Dornberg’s knowledge and experience in both cooking and nutrition to help you succeed and thrive!

Cooking Corner Club Monthly Cook-Along Sessions

Note:  This course may be accessed by active cooking corner club members.

Each month (usually the 1st Saturday, but may change due to holidays and scheduling conflicts), a virtual Cook-Along session is held for active Cooking Corner Club Members.  With the help and guidance of Mrs. Dornberg, we will all cook approximately 3 recipes together in real-time.  The recipes and an ingredient list will be posted in this course a minimum of 1 week prior to the class so you can get your supplies and be ready to get cooking!  Although you will be able to watch a replay of the course, YOU ARE HIGHLY ENCOURAGED TO JOIN AND PARTICIPATE LIVE!  You only LEARN by DOING, and the opportunity to get real-time feedback from Mrs. Dornberg is invaluable!

Following the class, a recording of the session along with any follow-up information will be added to that session section of the course.  If you have questions watching the replay, ask in the comment section or in the Cooking Corner Club Facebook group.

In this course, you will first learn the basics of knife selection, care, honing, and sharpening. You will then learn and practice how to mince, slice, and dice various vegetables and herbs.
